From the parliament's rostrum, SP MP Erion Braçe raised concerns about the price of oil in the country, saying that it is the most expensive in the region. He addressed the Hydrocarbons Association, saying that they are a "cartel" that is putting pressure on the price.

This statement was responded to tonight's Top Story show by Luigj Aliaj, Chairman of the Hydrocarbons Association.

When he asked to be confronted, he said that Braca's statement was untrue, demanding an apology from him for the labeling.

"The first group hit are hydrocarbon entrepreneurs. We have invoices and risks. In this field, 254 companies have import licenses, of which 60 are active. During the work, there are companies that get more market, but never from favors but from work and service. It is not easy, we have a responsibility to our customers.

"Braçe stated that the association is a cartel, I regret not having him in front of me, since he has a platform and finds the opportunity and speaks from time to time. As an association, thanks to his pressure, I have closed all the association's networks and website... the association cannot be a cartel. I publicly invite him to be the chairman of the transparency board, to explain to us where we can find oil at other prices and we apologize to him, otherwise he should apologize to us," he said.

Meanwhile, Braçe, informed about the topic of discussion on Top Story and the presence of the head of the Association on the panel, sent the show's editorial office a list of oil prices in the country and the region.

But Aliaj declared this list to be inaccurate and untrue, publishing another list where he explained what the stock market price is and how the price is calculated and applied.

"These are Braça's inventions, I don't understand these... this doesn't mean anything. Show me the table I brought you with the current price, these are sophisms. In this crisis, companies have zero profit. I don't put pressure, I'm an economist. I said with these prices you will leave Albania without oil. I don't know how far oil can go, there are several variants, the most optimistic variant is that the war continues and three weeks later, it is to increase by 50 lek," he said.
