Should the candidate for prime minister come from the diaspora? Argita Malltezi comes out against Bardhi: Dangerous!

" The candidate for prime minister is not a matter of protagonism, but a matter of responsibility of each of us within the DP and I repeat that it is not an individual decision-making, but of the structures within the party. If you ask me, I would like it to be a figure who comes entirely from outside politics. I would prefer a figure who comes from the diaspora, an undisputed figure who would enjoy the confidence of the entire party structure."
This was the proposal made by the head of the PD parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, during a television interview about 10 days ago, to which Argita Malltezi, the daughter of former prime minister Sali Berisha, is against.
In an interview for the show "Pa Censure", Argita Malltezi considered it as an untested and dangerous experiment for the autocratic situation in which Albania is. According to her, this proposal could be valid only after the Democratic Party had won the elections.
" I think it is an untested experiment, but also dangerous to a certain extent, because the realistic assessment of the autocratic situation in which Albania is located, of the elimination of free elections, due to Rama's repressive measures in all forms, with justice, in the capture of public finances, etc., makes such a thing impossible, even though it is a very good idea. I have heard the idea, but I thought it was about a prime minister after winning the elections, because then, of course, it is quite possible as an alternative." - said Mrs. Malltezi.
Argita Malltezi stood by the early statement of the head of the opposition Sali Berisha to decide his future as prime minister with a referendum.
" Normally, the person who leads the campaign is the candidate for prime minister. Sali Berisha, in a unique gesture, has said that after the victory in the elections, he will give the opportunity to the Albanians with a referendum to choose whether they want him to be prime minister or not. I think that there is an absolute majority among Albanians who, whether they love Berisha or not, are convinced that Sali Berisha does not make bargains in the fight against Edi Rama, that he stays in the battle until the end, that he takes the campaign to the end according to the interest of to the opposition people and I believe that this is a good basis for entrusting him with the leadership of the electoral campaign, even from house arrest," said Malltezi.
She is convinced that, except for Lulzim Basha, all the real opposition forces will agree to join a joint coalition, led by Sali Berisha.
