"Where are your friends Rame?", Basha for ATV Kosova: The metaphor of

The political leader of the Euro-Atlantic Coalition, Lulzim Basha, stated on the CONTEXT show on ATV that the closure of a third of the electoral lists by Rama and Berisha has worsened democratic conditions in Albania. According to Basha, this action has deprived citizens of the right to elect their representatives, turning the lists into “personal political barracks.”

"Mr. Rama and Mr. Berisha combined their votes and closed a full third of the lists, thus creating the predispositions for personal political barracks and denying the citizens of Albania the right to choose them, and not the party leaders, who will go to the next Parliament," Basha declared.

He said that Edi Rama is seeking a fourth term despite failures, while Berisha is attempting to bring back worn-out figures, some of whom are involved in criminal investigations.

"Edi Rama is seeking a fourth term, after twelve years, and he wants another four years, while the problems are endless, created by misgovernance, by corruption. Mr. Berisha, on the other hand, is seeking to recycle names that have completed their political cycle, and some are also in the criminal cycle, precisely because of corruption, hiding wealth, money laundering, such as the case of Mr. Meta, former prime minister, former president, Mr. Berisha's main ally," he said.

According to Basha, the Euro-Atlantic Coalition is the alternative that puts an end to this old game and returns hope for the future to citizens.

"The Euro-Atlantic Coalition is there as a solution, as an alternative. We have presented our program since June 1 of last year, with an open and dignified team, and we are with the citizens every day, to explain to you how the vote for number four can withstand this game. If you feel sorry for your children, your families, if you feel sorry for Albania, then you have the solution: the Euro-Atlantic Coalition, number four", declared Basha.

Basha also shared how his arguments with Prime Minister Edi Rama began through the lyrics of a Unikkatil song. According to him, it all started when Rama, for several days in a row, asked publicly where he was, while his answer came with the line "Where are your friends?", mentioning names close to Rama who are in prison or under investigation.
"Mr. Rama used to ask: Where are you? Where is Luli? And I answered him: I'm here, with my associates, preparing the campaign. Where are you? Most importantly, where are your friends? Because a good part of Edi Rama's friends - from Erion Veliaj, Arben Ahmetaj, Ilir Beqja, Saimir Tahiri, Lefter Koka, to Vangjush Dako - are in prison, on their way to prison or trying to escape prison", declared Basha.

He said that after this reply, a friend reminded him of the song Unikkatil, which became part of his communication with the prime minister, but with a clear political meaning.

"A friend reminded me of the lyrics of Unikkatil's famous song: 'Where are your friends?'. Thus, Unikkatil entered with a very significant verse in a clear political context, because the message is and remains deeply political ," Basha said.
