"I have no money to live on"/ The assets of Malltez and Argita Berisha remain in sequestration, the Supreme Court and the GJKKO reject their requests
The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime has rejected the request of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha's son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltez, to lift the seizure of his assets.
On April 2, Jamarbër Malltezi requested the return of 25 properties seized by SPAK and GJKKO, arguing that he does not have money to live on.
His lawyer stated that Malltez's bank accounts are empty. But SPAK reminded Malltez that it has only seized a portion of his assets and that many others have not.
Jamarbër Malltezi turns out to have four apartments in the most luxurious areas in four of the most expensive cities in Europe, but in the GJKKO, Berisha's son-in-law said that he does not have the money to live in Tirana.
The apartments in Munich, Brussels, Rotterdam and Budapest, whose value exceeds millions of euros, were not declared by Jamarbër and Argita Malltezi, but were discovered only after SPAK investigations and have not been seized, as the prosecution settled for properties worth 5.4 million euros, the amount he allegedly benefited from the corrupt privatization affair of the former Partizani club.
Earlier today, the Supreme Court also rejected the request of Sali Berisha's son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, to lift the seizure of assets he co-owns with Argita Berisha.
The Malltezi-Berisha couple had also requested the return of the rents that the Agency for the Administration of Sequestered Assets has received so far, but this request was also rejected by the High Court.
