Spahiu: New parties have the advantage of the immigrant vote, SPAK arrests and

Lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu believes that this electoral system, which will be voted on May 11, is the worst in three decades of pluralism in Albania and that it greatly disadvantages new political forces.

But the elections are the best chance for new parties to remove the old jackets, while another historical factor, according to him, is the Special Prosecution Office, where over 1,000 former officials and officials of all categories are under indictment, convicted or under investigation.

Invited to '5 Questions from Babaramo' tonight on Report TV, he analyzed the latest political situation, seeing the major forces as favored in the electoral prism, which is also helped by the Electoral Code.

The new innovations are the new political parties. I, who experienced December 90, feel the atmosphere, although in new circumstances and premises. With new political parties, the situation, not because of the economic crisis, but for other factors, the main one being the Special Prosecution. After three decades, Albanians were faced with a new reality, where over 1 thousand officials are under indictment, under investigation, including former presidents, ministers, deputy prime ministers, and deputies. Albanians saw in what was beyond the media how the old jackets of politics were emerging. New parties do not find a better opportunity than this, moreover including the Diaspora, the quarter of a million Albanians who are outside of political influence, the impact of the vote, which, translating into mandates if everyone voted, would produce 25 deputies. They are actually scattered and do not translate automatically. "Not only the diaspora, but also social networks, where the little ones are blocked from the media, but they have social networks to do their campaign," he said.

He further emphasized the disadvantage, where closed lists now produce the majority of future MPs. According to Spahiu, the parliament will be "appointed" for the first time in 30 years.

"The 2025 elections on May 11 have a big disadvantage. For the first time, Albanians are voting with the worst and most negative system. In three decades, there has not been a more negative system, despite the secrecy of the vote. 70% of the closed list and 30% open means that the people do not have the opportunity to choose, it diverts the vote, the people are not represented. We will have an appointed Parliament, it is not the people's vote. This is the biggest disadvantage that will also penalize new parties. Because if the justice system had acted, it would have removed these big parties that have seized this system. The people will vote dictated in these elections, so they are even more negative," the lawyer told Report TV.
