Prime Minister Edi Rama is present today at the Inaugural meeting of the Joint Consultative Committee with the EU Economic and Social Committee, an important step on the path of Albania's European integration.
This meeting brings together representatives of employers, employees and civil society to strengthen social dialogue and cooperation between Albania and the EU.
"Thanks to the open manner and readiness, we have been welcomed inside the fortress of Brussels as equals. It has been a long journey, as elegantly mentioned by the president, with many situations where we found ourselves stuck, but I must say that we are now living in a moment where the EU has surprised us with its readiness and willingness to take us in."
Since I remember the first time this thing started, our stars are now aligned with those of the EU, not only in terms of the future but also in terms of the present. We want to take advantage of this chance and make it possible for us to be inside the castle when the doors close. Today is the momentum we need to deal with and I couldn't be more grateful.
"I want to close by saying, President Ropke is one of Albania's best friends and we are lucky that he has succeeded me. Although he will soon be replaced. The end is positive but the journey is painful. We are giving ourselves all the reasons to move forward without giving up," he said.
