The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, was at the podium today with the Democrats of Elbasan.

Tonight is a special day of democracy, the revolt of the citizens of Elbasan 35 years ago in the city, the metallurgical plant, neither tanks nor armored vehicles defeated the men and women, boys and girls, but on the contrary, the dates 12 to 14 were transformed into an arena of clashes. I express my gratitude to those brave people who founded the Democratic Party here in Elbasan.
The last few years, as you are aware, were the most difficult years, an unprecedented ordeal in the history of Europe, in which our political force. Force of freedoms and human dignity, force of vocation, of the Western spirit of the nation and the national interest of Albanians and integration into NATO and the EU, faced an aggression like no other political force with the sole goal of Albania without opposition. Because the successor of the executioner Kristaq Rama seeks an Albania like his fathers. Albania without opposition, a macabre decision not only of Edi Rama but also of George Soros. But we democrats are people of ideals. In the '90s we stood up for the ideals of freedom. For the national interest, the integration of Albania into Europe. Faith in God, in the family and these values are both divine and earthly. An ugly crime to attack a political force that adheres to the highest human principles. What was not done to us.
This platform was implemented in the most ruthless way on us, democrats who dared to stand up to this injustice that no political force in history had ever experienced. They stole our name, they stole our flag. They failed because we did not surrender. We divided, we united. We have a history, in a word: undefeated. Invincible. We proved this.
