Nertil Buzi killed himself with a shotgun inside his car in the Kurjan village area of Fier, a few kilometers from the place where he killed his ex-father-in-law, injured his ex-mother-in-law and took his ex-girlfriend Rozalinda Plaku hostage.

This is announced by the State Police, which has issued an official press release regarding the event that shocked public opinion this Friday morning.

The release of the hostage without injury and the management of a high-risk situation for hours demonstrate the importance of the RENEA negotiation team, the State Police and the Prosecutor's Office in the effort to avoid an even more tragic outcome.

"Following preliminary information about the serious criminal incident that occurred in the village of Vidhisht, Roskovec, where citizen Refit Buzi, 35 years old, killed his ex-girlfriend's father with a shotgun, injured her mother and took his ex-girlfriend, citizen Rozalinda Plaku, hostage, we inform you that:

After her release thanks to the professional actions of the Police, the RENEA negotiation team, in cooperation with the services of the Fier Local Police Directorate, under the direction of the Prosecutor, continued negotiations with the 35-year-old, with the aim of convincing him to surrender and avoid further escalation of the situation.

"Despite intense negotiations, conducted since the early hours of the morning, the 35-year-old did not obey the police's calls to surrender and, at around 16:35, it is suspected that he committed suicide with the shotgun he was carrying, inside the vehicle," the State Police announced.

The investigative group, under the direction of the Prosecutor, continues its actions to fully document the circumstances and causes of this serious criminal event. For more than 5 hours, the RENEA Special Forces have attempted to convince the 35-year-old to surrender, but in vain, every attempt has failed.

As can be seen from this footage from a few moments ago, every attempt by the Fier Police and the RENEA Special Forces group to convince him to drop the weapon and get out of the car has unfortunately failed.

Fier Police Chief Erion Ahmeti told the media earlier this Friday that the young man refused to get out of the car and cried continuously, telling the police that he was going to kill himself. Unfortunately, that is what happened.
