The famous actor of the "Harry Potter" films has died at the age of 72.

The famous actor Robbie Coltrane, who played the role of Hagrid in the Harry Potter films, has passed away at the age of 72.

The news was announced by his agent, according to the BBC. "Robbie will probably be best remembered in decades to come as Hagrid... a role that brought joy to children and adults alike," he said.

He described Coltrane, whose real name was Robert McMillan, as a "wonderful actor" and "intelligent".

His agent gave no details of his death, but said Coltrane's family would like to thank the team at the Royal Forth Valley Hospital in Larbert for their care.
