Netflix begins production on live-action “Scooby-Doo” series

Netflix has announced on social media that production has begun on a live-action “Scooby-Doo” series. The eight-episode series will feature a modern reimagining where Shaggy and Daphne team up with Velma and Fred to solve the mystery of a lone, lost puppy — a possible witness to a strange murder.

The project is written and directed by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, who will also serve as executive producers along with Andre Nemec and Jeff Pinker through Midnight Radio. The production is also supported by executive producers Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Leigh London Redman through Berlanti Productions, and is being produced by Warner Bros. Television.

Netflix has revealed the first page of the script, giving viewers a taste of what to expect from the series. The announcement has prompted a flurry of reactions from longtime “Scooby-Doo” fans, who hope the stories and characters they grew up with will be presented with respect.
