Gest's testimony in court revealed: He acted in a state of anxiety...

Singer Besart Kelmendi, known by his stage name Gjesti, has given his testimony in court regarding the incident at the "Onima" studio, stating that he committed the alleged actions in an emotional state and has apologized for the situation.

According to local media, in his testimony he said that everything happened at a difficult emotional moment.

" I agree with my lawyer's statement, I want to inform the court that I am anxious, I acted in a state of emotion. I apologize to the court, the prosecutor and the injured party,"  he stated during the hearing.

His defense has opposed the Prosecution's request for pre-trial detention, arguing that there is no risk of recidivism. Gjesti's lawyer, Artan Qerkini, has emphasized that impulsive reactions are usually not repeated and that pre-trial detention would be excessive, adding that his client is willing to enter into a plea agreement.

However, the Basic Court in Pristina has decided to keep Gjesti in detention for one month, arguing that there is a well-founded suspicion of committing criminal offenses and the risk of flight, influencing witnesses and repeating the criminal offense. The detention measure will last from March 11 to April 9, 2026.

According to the court, during the arrest, a Radikal RP-X9 weapon, caliber 9 mm, with a magazine and 14 cartridges was seized from Kelmendi. The incident occurred on March 11, 2026, at around 2:50 p.m., at the premises of the “Onima” studio in Veternik, Pristina.

Witnesses reported that Gjesti entered the building demanding the company's director, E.Sh., and threatened to break computers and equipment if the owner did not appear. At one point, he hit a computer, broke several windows, and held a gun in his hand for a short time. Witnesses also reported that the singer addressed the staff with the words: "Where are you going, I'm going to kill you."

Police confirmed Gjesti's arrest on March 11, 2026, while the Prosecution announced that he was detained for 48 hours on suspicion of three criminal offenses: intimidation, damage to property, and unauthorized possession of a weapon.

According to local media, the cause of the incident is suspected to be a dispute over a previous debt, which led the singer to a violent reaction on the company premises.
