Everton are set to announce the addition of a new investor to the club's ownership structure. The 62-year-old American billionaire, Christopher Sarofim, a renowned fund manager and minority shareholder of the NFL team, the Houston Texans.

Sarofim will join Everton's owner group, Roundhouse Capital, and will have an observer role on the club's board. Day-to-day control of Everton will remain in the hands of The Friedkin Group (TFG), which bought the club from Farhad Moshiri in December last year.

His company, Sarofim International Management, manages assets worth around $31 billion and Sarofim's personal fortune is said to be over $3.7 billion. His money will be invested in Roundhouse Capital, rather than directly in the club, and no new shares will be issued for the time being.

Sarofim is the first new investor to join Everton's ownership group, but more are expected in the future. TFG is looking for investors with special skills and contacts, not necessarily famous names, unlike other English clubs that have attracted investors such as Luka Modrić (Swansea), JJ Watt (Burnley), or Will Ferrell and Russell Crowe (Leeds).

Since taking control, TFG has undertaken significant changes: sacking manager Sean Dyche in January and replacing him with David Moyes, who ensured survival in the Premier League.

Also, chief executive Angus Kinnear will join the club this summer from Leeds, while sporting director Kevin Thelwell will leave when his contract expires next month.

A major achievement was the reduction of the club's debt, which had reached over £700 million. Everton benefited from a £350 million financing package with much lower interest rates, saving the club up to £50 million a year.

These funds will be used towards the completion of the new 52,888-seat stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, which is due to open this summer.

Meanwhile, a study is underway to turn Goodison Park into the home of the women's team, with results expected by the end of May.
