Former France international charged in Brazil with raping his partner

New legal problems for Dimitri Payet in Brazil. According to Globo Esporte, the Rio de Janeiro State Prosecutor's Office has officially filed charges against the former French national team player (38 appearances and 8 goals) for psychological violence against lawyer Larissa Ferrari, 28, with whom the former Vasco da Gama player had an extramarital affair between the end of 2024 and March 2025.

The case was initially closed, but the decision was overturned after the complainant appealed. In her complaint, Ferrari describes a toxic and manipulative relationship, accusing Pajet of causing her emotional harm through “insulting and degrading attitudes and phrases, humiliation, manipulation and ridicule”. The prosecutor requested a criminal conviction for Pajet, payment of compensation for moral damages and reimbursement of medical expenses incurred by the lawyer. The relationship, which initially began on social media, then became physical, with consensual sexual acts, but characterized, according to the prosecution, by “violence”. Over time, the lawyer allegedly developed emotional dependence, anxiety and depression, problems that worsened as the days passed due to the footballer’s behavior.

Pajet's lawyer, Sheila Lustoza, said she was "surprised by the reopening of the case" based on the elements that were already present in the file, but reiterated her faith in justice and in her client's innocence. Ferrari's lawyers had a different reaction: "This measure shows that the authorities are aware of the importance of the facts and are determined not to let behavior that harms the dignity of women go unpunished, regardless of the bad reputation of the person under investigation."

Meanwhile, Vasco da Gama has officially announced the termination of Pajet's contract, who leaves the club after 7 goals and 13 assists in 75 appearances.
