FORMULA 1/ Wolff: When Hamilton gets going, it's very difficult to stop

"I've seen it happen for many years, without waiting, the Lewis Hamilton train gets going and then it's very difficult to stop it," says Toto Wolff, who knows this better than anyone, as it was under his leadership that the Briton built a sporting empire in Formula 1, winning six of the seven world titles of his career.

Now their paths have parted. Wolff continues to lead Mercedes, a team that this season seemed uncompetitive, while Hamilton has just celebrated his first victory with Ferrari, achieved in Barcelona after a 34-race wait without success for the "Redhead".

And it is precisely the leader of the "Silver Arrows" who knows what can happen if Ferrari manages to enter the race for the world championship with continuity and results: "If I could, I would not want to fight for the title against my old friend Luis, because when he smells blood, he attacks immediately. I know him very well," declares the Austrian.

THE BIG IDEA
Although Fred Vasser seeks calm, being aware that a single victory is not enough to guarantee the continuity of the results needed to challenge Mercedes, a team that has so far lost only one of the seven races held, the desire to see Ferrari again in the fight for the title is great. Hamilton smiles not only looking at the standings, where he is currently second with 41 points less than Kimi Antonelli and 9 points ahead of George Russell, but above all thinking about a team that finally, after a very difficult debut season with Ferrari, seems to have found the right direction.

The collaboration with his new track engineer, Carlo Santi, the contribution through detailed reports on the work in the factory and on the track throughout 2025, as well as the complete trust that Vasser has shown him even in the most difficult moments, constitute a victory that is worth more today than Hamilton's 106th success in Formula 1. These are solid foundations, built thanks to the sincerity, as well as the perseverance of the Briton. On them Ferrari intends to build the rest of the season, aware that it has in its hands a car born under a good star, especially from a chassis point of view, and further improved thanks to the important package of updates brought to the Barcelona track.

The reigning world champion, Lando Norris, also clearly expressed Ferrari's true potential: "We are lucky that Ferrari does not have the best engine at the moment, because otherwise it would be dominant. They are the best in cornering performance, while we are still far from them."
