Heavy blow for Brazil, federation confirms Neymar's absence in second match

Brazil has received another piece of bad news on the eve of the second match in Group C of the 2026 World Cup. "Selecao" star Neymar will not be available for the match against Haiti, further delaying his debut in the tournament.

Through an official statement, the Brazilian Football Federation confirmed that the striker will not travel with the team to Philadelphia, as he will continue his recovery program in New Jersey.

"Footballer Neymar will not travel with the delegation to Philadelphia. He will remain in New Jersey to optimize the final phase of the recovery process, taking advantage of the specialized structures available," the federation said in a statement.

The technical and medical staff have decided not to take any chances with the striker's condition, preferring that he fully recover before returning to the pitch. The decision appears to have been made following discussions between Neymar and coach Carlo Ancelotti during the last training session.

The 34-year-old's absence is a significant blow for Brazil, which in its first match was held to a 1-1 draw against Morocco and aims to return to victory against Haiti.

Attention is now focused on the final group stage match against Scotland, where it is expected to be learned whether Neymar will be able to make his debut at the 2026 World Cup.
