According to "The Athletic", the hypothesis that is increasingly being heard is that of an international play-off between four teams with two semi-finals and a final, which will determine who participates in the event instead of Iran.
In theory, the two teams with the highest coefficient in UEFA that have not qualified from the play-offs (Italy and Denmark), as well as the two teams with the highest coefficient from Asia, would be selected.
Two semi-finals would be held and then the final to determine who would replace Iran.
FIFA's precedent was before last year's Club World Cup, when it excluded Leon and decided to hold a play-off between Club America and Los Angeles FC.
This is the hypothesis that includes the Europeans, unless FIFA chooses logic and directly sends an Asian team there, which in this case would be the United Arab Emirates.
The decision is expected to be made next week, as in theory, all participating countries in a World Cup must confirm their irrevocable presence in the World Cup 30 days before the first match, which is played on June 15.
