German legend/ Today Beckenbauer would be worth as much as Messi and Ronaldo

Germany is mourning the Kaiser.
Franz Beckenbauer is not only the shining beacon of German football, but also one of the greatest players of all time.
But many football fans, especially the younger ones, have never seen Beckenbauer play and have no idea how good he really was.
During his active career, Beckenbauer was an absolute superstar and was compared to legends such as Brazil icon Pele and Holland's Johan Cruyff. Apart from them, no one came close to his status.
By comparison: Kaiser dominated an entire era, as did mega-stars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the last decade.
Franz Beckenbauer would be worth as much today as Messi and Ronaldo
After his time at FC Bayern, Beckenbauer moved to the USA to the New York Cosmos for a record fee of 2 million dollars in 1977. There he played alongside Pele. It's hard to imagine how high the transfer fee would be for him given today's transfer market conditions.
Like Messi (8 times World Player of the Year), Beckenbauer has won almost everything there was to win as a player.
World champion, European champion, five-time German champion with Bayern and Hamburger, Beckenbauer won the European Cup (forerunner of the Champions League) three times in a row with FC Bayern, as well as the European Cup Winners' Cup.
He was only denied victory in the UEFA Cup. In 1982 he failed with HSV in the final against IFK Gothenburg. He took over as interim coach of FC Bayern in 1996.
With his elegant, light-footed style of play, he revolutionized the game as a libero, invented the then-unknown one-two pass and impressed with his outside passes.
And with 2006's Summer Tale, part of Beckenbauer's legacy will surely remain memorable even for the youngest...
