Nagelsmann receives bad news, Germany loses talent before the duel with Portugal

Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has suffered a slight blow ahead of the upcoming international transfer window with the injury to Angelo Stiller.

The Stuttgart midfielder played despite being in severe pain on Saturday, as he helped his team win the German Cup against Arminia Bielefeld.

A ligament injury, which he initially suffered in a 4-0 win over Augsburg, never fully recovered and has shortened his time representing the national team.

The 24-year-old's replacement has been Mainz striker Jonathan Burkardt, who scored 18 goals in the last Bundesliga season.

Nagelsmann and Germany will face Portugal at 9pm on Wednesday, June 4, for a place in the UEFA Nations League final.
