Official/ Promoted to Serie A, Filippo Inzaghi bids farewell to Pisa

Filippo Inzaghi has officially ended his adventure with Pisa, just a year after taking charge and returning the club to the elite of Italian football.

The former Milan, Venezia, Bologna, Benevento, Brescia and Salernitana coach took charge of Pisa last summer and managed to lead the team to second place in Serie B, which meant direct promotion to Serie A, alongside Sassuolo. Meanwhile, Cremonese secured promotion through the play-offs.

Despite this success, Inzaghi has decided to leave Pisa. In the season that just ended, he recorded 23 wins, 7 draws and 8 losses.

According to sources close to the clubs, Inzaghi will remain in Serie B, after Palermo paid the €1 million release clause to release him from his contract with Pisa. The Sicilians see him as the ideal man to aim for promotion next season.

In August, Inzaghi turns 52 and has a successful track record of promotion from Serie B, recalling promotion with Benevento in 2020.

Meanwhile, Pisa's return to Serie A comes after a 34-year absence. The club is currently looking for a new coach. One of the most talked-about names to take over is former striker Alberto Gilardino.

Cremonese, who were also promoted this season, are currently without a coach.
