Tebas responds to Bernabeu: They can continue

The conflict between Javier Tebas and Real Madrid has returned to the spotlight. After the 4-1 victory over Sevilla, Madrid fans displayed a banner against the LaLiga president and chanted in chorus for his resignation, turning the Santiago Bernabeu stadium into a scene of protest against the Spanish football leader.

The message appeared on the south stand: “This is not football, it’s Tebas and Negreira.” The fans then chanted against Tebas, Barcelona president Joan Laporta, and the Spanish Football Federation, bringing back the Negreira issue, which has long been at the center of controversy between the two giants of Spanish football.

The protest came just days after Tebas compared the way Real Madrid TV criticized refereeing to the propaganda methods of Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Germany's propaganda minister. The statement sparked a strong reaction from the Madrid club, which publicly called for the resignation of the LaLiga president.

Tebas: The facts proved me right

Tebas reacted on social media, linking the fans' protest to the position of Real Madrid's management. He claimed that recent events confirm what he had denounced in his previous statements.

"It only took me two days for the facts to prove me right," the LaLiga president wrote. He also referred to an article by journalist Tomás González-Martín in the newspaper "El Debate" and demanded that Real Madrid publicly clarify its position on the comparisons with the Negreira case, as well as claims that the match calendar puts the club at a disadvantage.

Tebas also demanded transparency on Real Madrid's requests for changes to match schedules and the number of cases in which these requests have been granted, rejecting what he describes as a narrative of persecution against the Madrid club.

The clash with Florentino Perez continues

The LaLiga president also questioned the responsibility of Real Madrid's leaders for the messages that, according to him, reinforce the accusations against Spanish football institutions.

"Will they explain it as an opinion from outside the club? The consistency with the narrative that I denounced is clear to everyone," Tebas declared, referring to the banner displayed at the Bernabeu.

He accused Madrid's leaders of focusing on manipulation and lies, while criticizing them for fueling discontent and portraying the club as a victim of the system.

"They can continue to demand my resignation. Every day, they better illustrate what I have denounced," Tebas concluded.

The clash between him and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has been going on for more than a decade and seems far from resolved. While the Negreira case and the refereeing debates continue to stir controversy in Spain, tensions between LaLiga and the Madrid club remain high.
