Mirdita Police have arrested a 52-year-old man for arson. He is suspected of burning down a used materials store and attempting to burn down a tire shop. According to the Police, the perpetrator has a previous criminal record.

He burned down a used materials store in the city market and attempted to burn down a tire shop. Thanks to the quick and professional response of the Police, a 52-year-old man was identified, arrested, and put in handcuffs.

The suspected perpetrator, with a previous criminal record, was previously convicted of domestic violence, assault on police officers in the line of duty, damage to property, unauthorized possession of cold weapons and violation of the "House Arrest" security measure.

After receiving a report that a fire had broken out in a used materials store owned by citizen Gj. D, and that several tires had been burned in the tire shop of citizen AP, with the intention of burning the tire shop, the services of the Mirditë Police Commissariat organized the work to clarify the circumstances of the two cases.

The rapid actions taken at the scene gave rise to reasonable suspicion that both cases were deliberate arson.

In this context, in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office, the police operation codenamed "Fast" was organized and finalized.

As a result of the rapid and professional response of the Police structures, within the framework of the operation, it became possible to identify, capture and arrest, for the criminal offense of "Destruction of property by fire", the suspected perpetrator, citizen LV, alias AV, 52 years old, resident of the village of Nderfushaz, Mirditë.

In cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office, work continues on the full legal documentation of the two arson cases.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the Lezha Court of First Instance, for further action.
