A tragic event has been recorded in Cadimare, Italy, where a young Albanian man lost his life while swimming in the waters of the Gulf of Poets.
The victim has been identified as Ambler Xhoecuka, 22, who according to Italian media would be celebrating his 23rd birthday in a few weeks.
It is reported that the young man had entered the sea for the first time this season. He had left his personal belongings near the shore and went in for a swim, but just a few minutes later he collapsed in the water.
A woman who was nearby noticed his body floating about 50 meters from the shore and immediately raised the alarm. Two young men immediately jumped into the sea and managed to pull the 22-year-old to shore.
Medical teams attempted to revive him for nearly an hour, but despite intensive efforts, the young man was unable to survive.
Italian authorities have identified the victim through documents and personal belongings found on the shore.
According to Italian media, it is suspected that the cause of the tragedy may have been physical overload while swimming in the still cold waters of the Italian bay.
