Gonzato: Over 6 million euros in EU grants invested in Berat

The Ambassador of the European Union Delegation in Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, inspected today some of the infrastructure investments in the municipality of Berat, which have been carried out with European Union funding.
These projects range from the bridge in Bilça over the Osumi River, fully funded by the European Union, to the new road leading to Mount Tomori, and from the protection of the river banks near Gorica, to panoramic views of the Osumi River.
"With a warm welcome from former Mayor Ervin Demo and acting Mayor Ervin Ceca, every stop today reminded us why this city is one of Albania's cultural treasures and a key destination for sustainable tourism," praised Ambassador Gonzato.
With over 6 million euros in EU grants invested through the “Tourism-Led Local Economic Development Model”, in partnership with the EBRD and implemented by the Albanian Development Fund, these projects go beyond construction works.
The Ambassador praised that they improve access, protect cultural and natural heritage, and create new opportunities for local communities.
Gonzato said that they are also part of the broader EU support that is helping to shape a more connected and sustainable Berat.
“We are proud to partner with the city of Berat to promote sustainable tourism and improve the lives of its citizens. EU investments go beyond infrastructure. They support a vision of inclusive growth, where tourism, heritage and local communities come together to build a more sustainable future, a future that brings Albania closer to the EU. This is how the EU supports Albania to improve people's daily lives”, said EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato.
