"He refused to pay for his lunch", Samir Mane tells of the meeting

Businessman Samir Mane has been listed by the prestigious Forbes magazine as one of the world's billionaires, the first in Albania and the Western Balkans, with a fortune of 1.4 billion dollars.

In an interview for the Opinion show on TV Klan, businessman Mane told how he learned the news about the Forbes list, how long it took the magazine to conduct the financial analysis, and whether their representatives had come to Albania.

Samir Mane even shared an episode with the lead representative of the Forbes working group that dealt with the financial analysis of companies owned by the businessman.

Blendi Fevziu:  How much do you think your wealth is? Do you think it's 1.4 billion dollars, more, less?

Samir Mane:  It could be there, it could be a little less, it could be a little more. But somewhere around those values, it definitely has to be.

Blendi Fevziu:  So millions when you're a billionaire are no longer worth that much?

Samir Mane:  No, they have no value. As you can see, today they have lost 2 billion or gained 2 billion.

Blendi Fevziu:  Where were you and how did you hear the news that you were the first billionaire in the history of Albania and the first in the Western Balkans?

Samir Mane:  I was actually in America for my business affairs and there one of the business employees, the president of the company, sent me a congratulatory message and told me that as of today you are on the Forbes list with a fortune of 1.4 billion dollars.

Blendi Fevziu:  You didn't receive any notification from Forbes?

Samir Mane:  No announcement. Of course, Forbes has been doing detailed and in-depth research on my business companies for 6 months wherever I have businesses.

Blendi Fevziu:  But here in Albania, were there Forbes representatives who came?

Samir Mane:  Representatives from Forbes have also come here, they have stayed for a long time, they have seen our financial statements, which are declared according to the highest and best standards that the world knows today in terms of financial transparency.

Blendi Fevziu:  Have they contacted you too?

Samir Mane:  They contacted us after they received our financial statements, for clarifications regarding our financial statements. They also contacted me 1 month after they saw our financial statements. The strange thing was that after a meeting we went to have lunch and the lunch was about 80 dollars, he paid for the lunch himself.

Blendi Fevziu:  It was 80 dollars and you wanted to pay it?

Samir Mane:  Normal, and I told him that this is an Albanian code. No, he said, I'm sorry, I have to pay for lunch myself. He took out his credit card.

Blendi Fevziu:  Because the company wouldn't allow him to pay for lunch.

Samir Mane:  Maybe because of that. I told him I would make this fact public, he said, I have no problem with it.

Blendi Fevziu:  So he came to count how many billions there were here and he paid for the 80 dollars of lunch himself.

Samir Mane:  20, because he used to spend 80 on lunch. He paid his own 20 dollars. He didn't pay ours.

Blendi Fevziu:  And he didn't even accept that you pay him the 20 dollars?

Blendi Fevziu:  How many Forbes team members came and did research in Albania?

Samir Mane:  I don't know how long they were involved in the analysis, but the one who was the main one was involved in the analysis for a long time, with many questions, of course with my staff, not with me, for questions and answers in relation to the reflections we had in the financial statements.

Blendi Fevziu: How long did this Forbes process last?

Samir Mane:  I believe it lasted 6 months.

Blendi Fevziu:  Did they only take the financial statements of companies in Albania or also of your companies abroad?

Samir Mane:  To all the companies in every corner of the planet where we are, in America, in Canada.
