Proda meets with regional police directors: We have finalized four massive operations

The Director General of the State Police, Major General Ilir Proda, participated in the meeting between the general directors of the regional police forces.
The meeting, supported by international law enforcement agencies such as Interpol, Europol, Frontex, Eu4fast, Eudel and Giz, focused on topics such as the fight against migrant trafficking, the creation of common databases, and the alignment of national legislation in the field with EU legislation.
During the meeting, police chiefs discussed that the battles against this criminal activity are now taking place in a new context, the virtual one.
Given that communications between perpetrators, as well as between perpetrators and victims, take place on various social platforms, combined and modern knowledge and capacities are needed to prevent, detect and crack down on cases of human trafficking.
In his speech at the meeting, the Director General of the State Police, Major General Ilir Proda, praised the regional and wider cooperation to date, which has resulted in the finalization of 4 massive and important operations of the Albanian Police in this field.
The Director also emphasized that this cooperation should not be limited to police and operational aspects, but should also extend to the unification of systems and databases, which will accelerate verifications, in order to ascertain and crack down on these cases.
Further, Proda emphasized that despite the challenges brought by modernization, the speed of spread and the extent of this criminal activity, Police structures can gain revenge through: intensifying cooperation, based on professionalism and reciprocity; creating a secure communication infrastructure; using the same standards in communications between information technology systems; greater investments in information technology systems and the approximation of the legal framework of the respective countries with the EU.
