EU-Western Balkans Meeting, Gërvalla: Kosovo committed to implementing

Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gërvalla, spoke about the meeting in Luxembourg with the foreign ministers of the European Union and Western Balkan countries.

She said that it is time for action, because Kosovo deserves clear support on its path towards the EU and NATO.

"Time for action, the Republic of Kosovo deserves clear support on the path towards the EU and NATO. In Luxembourg, at the meeting with the Foreign Ministers of the EU and the Western Balkans, I reaffirmed that equal treatment and substantial inclusion of the Republic of Kosovo in integration processes is not only right, but also necessary for a complete, stable and secure Europe."

She also emphasized the demand to lift EU measures against Kosovo.

"I highlighted three steps that require urgent action: lifting EU measures against Kosovo, terminating membership in the Council of Europe, and supporting our application for membership in the European Union. These are steps that directly impact the stability and credibility of the EU itself in the region."

Gërvalla also mentioned the implementation of the Brussels Agreement and the Ohrid Annex, expressing Kosovo's commitment to implementing them.

"I also reiterated Kosovo's full commitment to the European Union-facilitated dialogue with Serbia and the implementation of the Brussels Agreement and the 2023 Ohrid Annex. This process must be concluded with mutual recognition and the building of good neighborly relations, on the basis of equality."

"In light of the ongoing threats and Russian influence in the region, I also underlined the importance of Kosovo's integration into NATO as a guarantee of long-term peace and security for the entire continent. There is no lasting peace and stability without justice and accountability, which is why I called for clear support for a full investigation and punishment for the open act of aggression in Banjska. The Republic of Kosovo remains committed to the European path, proving every day its will for reforms, strengthening democracy and advancing an agenda that contributes to security and a common European future. The time for action is now. Support for Kosovo is an investment in peace, security and democracy throughout Europe," said Gërvalla.
