"Why are the buildings in Tirana burning?", urban planner Kaçani: There is no planning of the landscape and ventilation corridors

Urban planner Artan Kaçani explained why there are cases of buildings catching fire in Tirana.
"From 2005 to today, according to INSTAT, approximately 20 million square meters have been built in Tirana. In the last two years alone, 2 million square meters have been built in Tirana and this would be an overload for many European cities. We are overloading the cities, there is a kind of acceleration like the cities in Asia in the 80s-90s. On the other hand, we must also talk about institutional responsibilities. The blame is not private when we talk about the city, but public. Why do fires break out in Tirana? Even the New Bazaar caught fire and there is still no public explanation. First, we must understand that in Tirana there is no planning of the landscape and ventilation corridors. The Italian architect is under investigation in Milan for violating the ventilation corridors, creating strong fire hydrants, where wind corridors enter without an exit", explained the urban planner in a direct connection with the "Off the Record" studio by Andrea Danglli, on A2CNN.
According to him, "on the other hand, we have a very depreciated infrastructure system, lacking dedicated emergency lanes."
"Meanwhile, the parking lots of the buildings on the ground floors are closed for sale, where they are planned to be empty spaces. Public institutions have allowed the private sector to commit major violations at the expense of citizens and the real estate market. This is one of the main factors, we have no monitoring," said Kaçani./ A2
