Albanian students in North Macedonia protest for the Albanian language, Bebe

World-famous singer Bebe Rexha has come out in support of Albanian students in North Macedonia, who on May 18 will protest for the right to conduct the bar exam in the Albanian language.

Through a reaction on social media, the artist emphasized the importance of the Albanian language for the national identity of Albanians, recalling the sacrifices made across generations to preserve it.

"Our Albanian language is deeply rooted in our identity. For generations we have fought to preserve it and keep it alive," she says in the video shared on Instagram.

The video also recalls that North Macedonia is a multiethnic state where Albanian is recognized as a co-official language, while adding that Albanian students deserve equal rights in education and professional processes.

The protest is organized with the request that the bar exam be made available in Albanian. The students' cause has received widespread support from Albanian political and public figures and organizations throughout the Balkans.
