An official from the US Embassy in Tirana has reacted to News24 regarding the process of selecting the new head of the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK). Asked by journalist Klodiana Lala, he stressed that the independence and unimpeded functioning of SPAK are crucial for the security of Albanian citizens.

"SPAK remains a valued partner of the United States in the fight against international crime," the American official stated, underlining the US's continued support for justice institutions.

Asked about the "Balluku" case, he added that the Embassy does not comment on internal legal processes that are still ongoing.
