Gaza Peace Board / Macron rejects Trump's invitation: France will not

France is expected to reject an invitation to join the so-called Gaza Peace Board, initiated by US President Donald Trump. The news was confirmed by a spokesman for the French presidency.

According to him, Paris was among the countries invited to join this council, but after reviewing the legal framework and consultations with international partners, France does not intend to accept the offer at this stage.

President Emmanuel Macron's spokesman stressed that the board's statutes go beyond the issue of the Gaza Strip and raise serious questions, particularly regarding respect for the principles and structure of the United Nations, which, according to France, should not be questioned under any circumstances.

However, Paris reaffirmed its commitment to a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and to a credible political perspective for both Palestinians and Israelis, stressing that it will continue to defend effective multilateralism.

Invitations to join the Peace Board have also been sent to other international leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Argentine President Javier Miel, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

The Peace Board is part of the second phase of Trump's peace plan for Gaza, which aims to permanently end the war and disarm Hamas, a proposal that the organization has opposed.
