"Diplomatic solution needed," Starmer urges Trump not to intervene militarily in Iran

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has called on US President Donald Trump to distance himself from any military action against Iran, warning of a "real risk of escalating conflict" .
In his public statements, Starmer stressed the importance of seeking a diplomatic solution and appealed to all parties to contribute to this end.
"The solution is not military, but diplomatic. We must avoid any action that could lead to greater clashes," he said.
Starmer also announced that "many rounds of talks with the US" have taken place and underlined that this is "the only way to resolve the issue."
The prime minister's comments come just hours before British Foreign Secretary David Lammy travels to Washington, where he is expected to meet with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
The meeting, scheduled for Thursday evening, will focus on the situation in the Middle East and examine possibilities for reducing tensions in the region.
