The FBI raids the home of Russian-American political analyst Dimitri Simes

FBI agents have raided and searched the Virginia home of Dimitri Simes, who is a well-known political commentator and host of the current affairs show on Russian state television, Channel One, the Rappahannock News reported Friday.
Simes told this newspaper that he is out of the country, but that he feels "concerned and surprised" by the action of the FBI.
He told Russian news agency TASS on Friday that reports that FBI agents raided his home were true, although he had not been officially notified.
Simes was born in Moscow in 1947 and immigrated to the United States in 1973. He had served as an informal adviser to former US President Richard Nixon and traveled regularly with Nixon to Russia and other former Soviet countries.
In 1994, Nixon named him chairman of the Center for the National Interest, then called the Nixon Center for Peace and Freedom.
Simes left this position in 2022.
He was also an adviser to Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and arranged a major foreign policy speech in 2016 in which Trump laid out his vision for greater cooperation with Russia.
Simes' name was mentioned more than 100 times in a 2019 report by US Attorney General Robert Mueller, which was called the "Report on the Investigation of Russian Interference in the 2016 Presidential Election."
Simes moderated a question-and-answer session with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg in 2023./ REL
