Political crisis in Romania! 7 ministers resign, pro-European government at risk

A new political crisis has erupted in Romania, after seven ministers from the Social Democratic Party (PSD) resigned from Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan's pro-European coalition government, stripping the executive of its parliamentary majority and putting the country's political stability at risk.
According to reports from the Reuters agency, the ministers' withdrawal comes amid strong clashes within the coalition over budget cut measures and fiscal reforms undertaken by the government.
The Social Democrats (PSD), who had so far supported the cabinet's policies, have demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Bolojan, who comes from the National Liberal Party (PNL), accusing him of policies to reduce public spending and efforts to reduce the budget deficit.
Prime Minister Bolojan has refused to resign and has said he will continue his work by appointing caretaker ministers from among the remaining cabinet members. By law, these ministers can remain in office for up to 45 days, after which a new government must be formed and approved by parliament.
In political developments, the PSD has warned of presenting a no-confidence motion against the government, which could lead to its overthrow if it receives the support of the far-right opposition, the Alliance for the Unity of Romanians, which is the second largest force in parliament.
In an official statement, the PSD has expressed its willingness to form a new pro-European government, emphasizing that it is open to cooperation with any prime minister, whether a politician or a technocrat, who can secure a parliamentary majority and address citizens' concerns.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Bolojan's PNL has ruled out the possibility of a new coalition with the left, making it even more difficult to find a new governing formula.
The current coalition was formed about ten months ago with the aim of curbing the growth of far-right parties, but has faced constant internal tensions, particularly on issues of fiscal reforms and public spending cuts.
The new crisis is expected to bring rapid developments to the Romanian political scene, as the country faces uncertainty over the continuity of governance and relations with the European Union.
