Another NASA expert dies mysteriously, his Tesla catches fire! The number of scientists who lost their lives or disappeared in the US rises to 12 (NAMES)

The death of a NASA nuclear scientist in a car accident in 2025 has returned to the spotlight, overshadowing the case of scientists who have died or gone missing in the United States in recent years.
Joshua LeBlanc, 29, was killed in a car crash in Huntsville, Alabama, when the Tesla he was driving veered off the road and then crashed into a guardrail and tree before bursting into flames. The vehicle was found burned out at noon on July 22, 2025, Alabama police told Fox.
About two hours later, family members of the 29-year-old reported him missing, according to KLFY. Joshua had not shown up for work. He was employed as an electrical engineer in the aerospace technology division at NASA, working on nuclear propulsion projects.
Joshua's body was burned beyond recognition. His identity was confirmed after a post-mortem examination. At the time, his family told KLFY that they feared he had been kidnapped and that he had left his cellphone and wallet at home when he disappeared.
Police tracked LeBlanc using data from his Tesla Sentry Mode and determined that the vehicle had been parked at the Huntsville airport for four hours the morning of his death. According to the family, he had not planned to be there that day and had not contacted them, which was unusual.
According to LeBlanc’s LinkedIn page, he worked at NASA for about five and a half years and led the Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Maturity Team for the Space Nuclear Propulsion (SNP) program. NASA’s SNP technology “will enable faster and more reliable transportation for crew and cargo missions to Mars and science missions to the outer solar system,” according to the space agency’s website.
Joshua later led the team for NASA's Demonstrator Rocket for Agile Cislunar Operation (DRACO), a nuclear thermal propulsion engine.
Dead and missing scientists
At least 12 other people, the vast majority of whom were involved in nuclear science and space research, have died or are missing since 2022, some of them under mysterious circumstances:
– Monica Hasido Reza, 60 years old, disappeared
-Melissa Kasias, 53, disappeared
-Anthony Chavez, 79, disappeared
-Steven Garcia, 48, disappeared
-William Neil McCasland, 68, disappeared
-Michael David Hicks, 59, has passed away
-Frank Maywald, 61, deceased
-Nuno Loureiro, 47 years old, deceased
-Jason Thomas, 45, passed away
-Karl Grillmayr, 47, passed away
-Amy Eskridge, 34, passed away
The case gained particular publicity about a month ago with the disappearance of retired Air Force Major General William Neil McCasland. He was last seen leaving his home in New Mexico, leaving behind his cell phone, electronic devices and even his glasses, taking only a handgun with him.
His wife told 911 that he appeared to be trying “to avoid detection.” McCasland had previously overseen the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, which has long been associated with rumors of research into alien technology since the Roswell incident in 1947. His disappearance fueled speculation in UFO circles.
Steven Garcia, a government contractor at a facility that produces about 80% of the non-nuclear components of U.S. nuclear weapons, disappeared in August 2025, leaving his New Mexico home with only a handgun, no cell phone, wallet or keys.
