The questioning of Dritan Qafa, a 50-year-old Albanian bricklayer arrested by police on Monday evening on charges of attempted double murder, illegal possession of a firearm, trespassing and resisting arrest, has been postponed.
The Albanian arrested after a raid by the First Response Units of the Pavia police was initially scheduled to be questioned yesterday by the investigating judge of the Court of Pavia, Daniela Garlaschelli.
It will be important to determine whether the Albanian bricklayer decides to tell his truth, in order to understand the reasons that led him to instill fear in an entire neighborhood.
On Monday, Qafa attacked his 75-year-old owner, who ended up in San Matteo Hospital, and then fired twice from a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun, with the serial number removed, at the man's 63-year-old domestic worker.
She managed to hide behind a door, but the glass shattered, injuring her arm. At that moment, the bricklayer moved into the house at Via Gravellona 7, the same house where, in late spring two years earlier, he had shot an Egyptian neighbor in the head with a bullet after an argument and threatened to take his own life.
Even long hours of discussions with a police negotiator were of no use. So, in the late afternoon, UOPI officers, specialists in these situations, arrived in Vigevano and within a few minutes sprang into action, first throwing a stun grenade and then striking Qafa with a taser (stun gun), Italian media reported.
The Albanian was neutralized and transferred to the Vigevano police station and from there to prison, where he awaits the investigative and judicial process.
