The "Macarena" wing and weight, Ferrari comes with innovations for more speed

The Ferrari team is busy at the Autodromo Nazionale in Monza with the first of two sessions allowed by the regulations for the “Filming Day”. The “Temple of Speed” can be driven for a total of 200 km, a good opportunity to test and evaluate the updates of the single-seater for the 2026 season. Meanwhile, the Miami Grand Prix is rapidly approaching.
Among the elements that will be tested is the much-discussed “Macarena” wing. Monza will be essential to understand its real benefits and, above all, to solve the reliability problems that have been noted previously. If everything works properly, its presence could guarantee a speed increase of 8 to 10 km/h in straight-line mode.
The improvements are mainly focused on the aerodynamic component, with the floor and wings having undergone a significant redesign for this test. The single-seater also appears to have been lightened in weight, a "diet" that is expected to bring the SF-26 model a gain of around a tenth of a second. In Formula 1, differences are measured in tenths and thousandths of a second, so even 100 grams less can make the difference in the race.
