The Supreme Court returns the case of Jorgo Goro to the GJKKO for trial

The Supreme Court has returned this Thursday for retrial to the Special Court the case file of the former mayor of Himara, Jorgo Goro.

The decision was made following the appeal and recourse filed by the defense for Goro, regarding the sequestration of the former mayor's assets.

"decided to overturn decision no. 39 (87-2025-261), dated 22.07.2025 of the Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime and decision no. 25, dated 13.03.2025, of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, with regard to point 4 of the disposition of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, regarding the confiscation of immovable property, and to send the case for retrial to the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, with another trial panel," the decision states.

In 2024, the Supreme Court had rejected another appeal by former mayor Goro, for the seizure of his apartment. The Supreme Court rejected the Appeals decision of July 31, 2024, for the seizure of his 81 square meter apartment, which SPAK had taken after the arrest of the socialist official.

Jorgo Goro was investigated by SPAK for his assets and was given two security measures "prison arrest" and currently has two sentences, one of which he has served.

Goro has been convicted by the GJKKO for the issue of alienation of lands in the coastal area of ​​Himara, while there is also a second trial.
