Russia's intention to play an active role in diplomatic processes in the Middle East was expressed by the country's President, Vladimir Putin, proposing its mediation to reduce tension in the region.

According to a Kremlin statement, the Russian President, during a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Massoud Pezeshkian, underlined Moscow's readiness to actively contribute to the search for a political and diplomatic solution.

As emphasized in the same statement, "Russia is ready to continue facilitating efforts to find a just and lasting peace."
