Trump threatens China: It will face a 50% tariff if it transfers weapons to Iran

US President Donald Trump has said China could face a tariff of up to 50% if it supplies Iran with weapons, including air defense missile systems.

Speaking on Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures," Trump referred to media reports that Beijing may be preparing to transfer man-portable air defense systems (MANPADs) to Iran.

“I doubt they would do that… I think I have a relationship with them and I don’t believe they will,” he said, adding that otherwise heavy tariffs would be imposed.

According to him, US intelligence has signals that China may be considering new arms shipments to Iran within the coming weeks, although he expressed skepticism about the realization of this scenario.

On the other hand, representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Washington have rejected these claims, stating that China "has never supplied weapons to any party in the conflict" and that the reported information is false.
