Scam through Whatsapp/ Over 100 arrested in Spain, stole thousands of euros

In a mega operation in Spain, more than 100 people have been arrested in Spain after suspicions that through fraud on the WhatsApp platform they have stolen thousands of euros from users, claiming to be relatives in difficulty.
The Spanish authorities declared that the arrested were part of a criminal group that through fraud secured a sum of one million euros
The arrests were made between February and April in Alicante, Barcelona, Girona, Madrid, Malaga and Valencia. All have been charged with fraud, money laundering and being part of a criminal organization.
The Guardia Civil, one of Spain's national police forces, said on Tuesday that the transfers caused ranged from 800 to 55,000 euros.
The accused claimed to be relatives who were using a new number due to an emergency. In this way they asked users for money. Suspects often used as an excuse that their phone was lost or damaged and they were locked out of their account.
