Strait of Hormuz, Iranian authorities: Will remain open, but all American and Israeli ships will be targeted

Iran has said the Strait of Hormuz will remain open to shipping, but has warned that American and Israeli ships could be targeted by the Iranian military.

Iranian military spokesman Abolfazl Shekarchi said Tehran controls the strategic strait but has no intention of closing it.

"We control the Strait of Hormuz, but we will not close it. All ships will be able to pass through it. However, American and Israeli ships will be targeted by the Iranian military," he declared.

Shekarchi also added that Iran cannot offer guarantees for the safety of ships from other countries. According to him, if they decide to pass through the strait, they will bear responsibility for any possible incident due to the war situation.
