Man stabs 4 people in Marseille, French police shoot dead attacker

A man stabbed and injured at least four people in Marseille this afternoon and was later shot dead by police officers who arrived at the scene.
The attacker launched his attack near a shop in the city's Old Port, an area known for drug trafficking. An eyewitness, a resident of the neighborhood, told reporters that police arrived at the area very quickly.
"They tried to arrest him outside a fast food restaurant and the man tried to attack a police officer with a knife. The police officer was shouting: stop, stop," he said.
Another witness said he saw a man carrying “two large butcher knives.” A source with knowledge of the case said the attack began after an argument “outside a kebab restaurant.” According to police, the victims are not in critical condition.
The entire area has been cordoned off by police and services on two tram lines have been suspended.
