Is the war in the Middle East escalating? Iran uses "Sejil" ballistic

Iranian state television announced that for the first time since the start of the war, a "Sejil" ballistic missile had been used.

Missiles of this type have a range of more than 2,000 kilometers.

The "Sejil" missile, also known as "Brimstone", is a surface-to-surface ballistic missile, developed entirely by the Iranian Space Industries Organization.

Equipped with solid fuel, the Sejil is faster to launch compared to liquid-fueled missiles and has high maneuverability, which makes it difficult to intercept by conventional air defense systems.

The missile is 25 meters long, 1.25 meters in diameter and weighs about 2.3 metric tons. It can carry warheads of up to 700 kilograms and is theoretically capable of carrying nuclear payloads.

According to Iran, the missile could hit Tel Aviv within seven minutes if launched from central Iran. An improved version, known as the Sejil-2, was introduced in 2009 with design changes and additions for precision guidance. There is also talk of another version, the Sejil-3, which could have a maximum range of 4,000 kilometers – enough to reach Europe from Iran.
