Russia has launched another overnight airstrike on the Ukrainian capital, launching several ballistic missiles in the early hours of the morning. According to local authorities, the attack has injured at least three people, while material damage is significant.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced at 05:43 that one of the hardest-hit areas was the Darnytskyi district, where two injured people were hospitalized. Doctors and emergency services are on the scene dealing with the situation.
A furniture store has caught fire and the fire has spread to a nearby warehouse, according to the State Emergency Service. Meanwhile, an office building has caught fire and been partially destroyed.
Local officials also reported damage to at least eight vehicles and fires in several different districts of the capital. Debris from the explosions fell on buildings in non-residential areas, while emergency crews are working to ensure safety at the scene.
A first round of explosions was heard at around 02:12 a.m., while another wave of explosions occurred around 05:00 a.m. Kyiv Independent journalists have reported live from the ground on the intensity of the attacks and the immediate response of rescue teams.
The situation in Kiev remains tense as authorities continue to fully assess the damage and further investigate the circumstances of the attack.
