White House: Trade deal negotiations are progressing well

White House trade adviser Peter Navarro said that negotiations for new trade deals are progressing well, within the ambitious goal of reaching 90 trade deals in 90 days.
In an interview with CNBC, Navarro said:

"I'm pleased with the progress, because every country with which we have a large trade deficit is actively participating at the negotiating table."

Although he did not provide detailed details about the agreements or the countries involved, Navarro highlighted structural difficulties in the negotiations, noting that many countries are reluctant to give up advantages they have historically gained in trade with the US.

"What we learn from these negotiations is how difficult it is for these countries to give up the advantage they have over us," he added.

This initiative is part of the administration's strategy to balance the US trade deficit, a topic that has been a priority for President Trump's economic policy in his current term.

Although specifics are lacking, Navarro's comments come at a time when global markets and economic partners are closely watching the US approach to multilateral and bilateral trade relations.
