Former US Senator Joe Lieberman dies at the age of 82

US Senator Joe Lieberman died at the age of 82 on Wednesday. The sad news was confirmed by his family members.

" Former US Senator Joseph I. Lieberman died this afternoon, March 27, 2023, in New York City of complications from a fall. He was 82 years old. His loving wife, Hadassah, and family members were with him in his final moments. "Senator Lieberman's love for God, his family and America carried him throughout his life of serving the public interest," his family wrote.

He also visited Kosovo in 2007. During the visit, Senator Joe Lieberman said, among other things, that "the United States of America will not turn its back on Kosovo".

As a democrat, he also played a role in rallying the republicans in support of the military actions in Kosovo in 1999 against the Serbian forces. Lieberman was the Democratic Party's nominee for vice president in the 2000 election, which was won by Republican George W. Bush.

Lieberman's funeral was scheduled for Friday in his hometown of Stamford, Connecticut.
