Spain increases the minimum wage to 1,134 euros per month

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced that the Council of Ministers will approve the increase of the minimum gross wage to 1134 euros per month on Tuesday.
"This is what we socialists do, we transform the reality of citizens and rule for the social majority of our country," said Sanchez.
This increase of 5 percent, which is 54 euros more per month, or 1,134 gross euros per month in 14 payments, represents the expansion of "social protection" and is another example that "Spain is going in the right direction", he emphasized the prime minister.
Sanchez recalled that the minimum gross salary under the previous Popular Party Government, which was in power, was 735 euros per month, reports Spanish Efe.
The minimum wage increase was agreed in mid-January between the government and unions and will directly affect about 2.5 million workers, mostly young people and women, Sanchez added.
