New strategy against terrorism, Trump signs the document/ Focus on cartels and threats in the Western Hemisphere

United States President Donald Trump has signed a new national counterterrorism strategy, which focuses on neutralizing threats in the Western Hemisphere and cracking down on drug cartel operations.
The strategy was confirmed by the White House's senior adviser on counterterrorism, Sebastian Gorka, who stressed that the document was signed on the principle that "America is our homeland and must be protected."
Under the new plan, the US administration aims to weaken the cartels by making them unable to traffic drugs, people and members into the US. The strategy represents a shift in focus towards the American region, where threats from organised crime and drug trafficking are considered a top priority.
As part of this campaign, the US has intensified counternarcotics operations, destroying dozens of suspected drug-trafficking ships. These actions are part of a broader regional strategy that has also included significant political developments in Venezuela, including the ouster of leader Nicolas Maduro this year.
In addition to cartels, the strategy also addresses other global threats, including jihadist groups and violent extremism, emphasizing the need for greater international cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
US officials have announced that the implementation of the strategy will include closer coordination between security agencies and international partners, with the aim of preventing and neutralizing threats both inside and outside US territory.
