Trump: $5 billion for Gaza from Peace Council, complete and immediate demilitarization of Hamas

US President Donald Trump has called for the complete and immediate demilitarization of Hamas as part of a plan to end the war in Gaza.
"It is very important that Hamas upholds its commitment to complete and immediate demilitarization," the US president wrote on his social network "Truth," adding that members of his "Peace Council" will announce, during a meeting on February 19 in Washington, the allocation of $5 billion for the reconstruction of the Palestinian territory.

The second phase of the plan envisages the gradual withdrawal of Israel, the disarmament of Hamas and the deployment of an international stabilization force.
The "Peace Council", inaugurated in Davos, aims to resolve armed conflicts around the world and at least 19 countries have signed its charter.
The body is committed to providing personnel for an international stabilization force and local police for the security of Gaza residents.
The United States announced in mid-January the transition to the second phase of Donald Trump's plan aimed at finally ending the war in Gaza.
The second phase envisages a gradual Israeli withdrawal, the disarmament of Hamas and the deployment of an international stabilization force.
The Israeli army continues to control more than half of the enclave, while Hamas, in power since 2007, categorically refuses to hand over its weapons under the conditions set by Israel.
The goal of ending the war
Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement accuse each other of violating the ceasefire that came into effect on October 10, after two years of war.
The purpose for which the “Peace Council” headed by Donald Trump was created was to end this war. However, its charter defines a much broader goal: that of resolving armed conflicts around the world.
This body, which was inaugurated at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January, has "unlimited potential," Donald Trump said today in a post on Truth Social.
At least 19 countries have signed its founding charter. In addition, candidate countries for a permanent seat on the council must pay an entrance fee of one billion dollars.
Some countries – including France – have refused to join it, and others have said they would only consider it if its statute were changed.
Guarantees the safety of Gaza residents
The $5 billion pledged by council members will be officially announced on February 19 in Washington. The body is committed to providing “thousands of personnel for the International Stabilization Force (ISF) and local police to ensure the security and peace of the people of Gaza,” according to the US president.
"The Peace Council will prove to be the most important international body in history," he added.
