Brother of former Turkish Foreign Minister dies 12 days after being injured in his office

Aydin Çavusoglu, the brother of AKP MP and former Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavusoglu, who was found injured in his office in the Alanya neighborhood of Antalya, has passed away.

Gunshots were heard from Çavuşoğlu's office at the gas station on the evening of May 5. Police and paramedics were dispatched to the area following a report. Aydın Çavuşoğlu, who was seriously injured, was taken to hospital and underwent surgery.

Aydın Çavuşoğlu, 52, could not be saved despite all efforts.

It has been announced that the funeral of Aydın Çavuşoğlu, brother of former Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and president of Corendon Alanyaspor club Hasan Çavuşoğlu, will take place tomorrow (May 18) at the Türkler Central Cemetery.

The Alanya Prosecutor's Office announced that it has launched an investigation into the incident in which Çavuşoğlu was injured by his licensed pistol.
